SERIOUS WRECK CLOSES CLEVELAND COUNTY ROAD

CLEVELAND COUNTY – Authorities responded to a one car accident just before 1 p.m. where a van overturned and one person was ejected, becoming pinned under the vehicle. The accident happened in Lattimore on West Lee Street and, according to Cleveland County Communications, every available ambulance in the county has been dispatched to the scene.

A source told The Carolina Scoop that at least eight people have been transported to Cleveland Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. The road is being shut down and the state Department of Transportation has been called in to the scene. The source also said it may be a church van involved that has hit something.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol out of Monroe is investigating and could not say if a fatality is involved. It’s not known how long W. Lee Street will be shut down.
