4H'ers from Lincoln County Recently visited the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, DC
Thirty Lincoln County 4-H members, volunteers and staff participated in a Wonders of Washington Program August 4-7. The program was led by National 4-H Center staff. While in Washington DC, participants learned about their citizenship and history by touring the memorials, Capitol, White House, national archives and visiting the Smithsonian Institutes.

Back Row: Greg Thomas, April Dillon, Cody Johnsen, Guy Perkins, Kay Barnes, Holly Mills, Mark Barnes, Trevor Davis, Steve Schultz, Christopher Schultz, Jeff Johnsen. Second Row: Emily Sherrill, Morgan Birmingham, Aya Takeyama, Bethany Howard, Chelsea Mills, Helen Vann, Megan Vann, Kali Vann, Merylin Davis, Fran Senters, Kristi Johnsen. Front Row: Joseph Perkins, Wyatt Johnsen, Sheyanne Johnsen, Brittany Howard, Ruth Perkins, Trey Johnsen, Michelle Schultz, Cheree Perkins and Congressman Patrick McHenry.

A special highlight of the trip was meeting with Congressman Patrick McHenry. Participants had a “once in a life time” experience of sitting on the House Floor, normally occupied by members of Congress, during a continued debate on energy legislation by the House Republicans. Although the House had been adjourned on August 1, 4-H’ers were able to listen to Patrick McHenry and other legislators during this continued debate on energy legislation.
