WHERE WILL WE BE?
Publisher's Note:
The following poem was graciously
provided to The Carolina Scoop by the
author, Earline Foster-Smith of
Lincolnton. Smith read the poem during
the 2009 Martin Luther King Jr. ceremony
on the courtsquare in Lincolnton.
We
sing the song, "We Shall
Overcome."
Some even chant, "We Have
Arrived."
Well, I beg to differ with due respect
We're not even in over drive.....
We
sing our songs
And talk the talk
But how many of us
Truly walk the walk....
As Martin said, "We have a
dream......"
Don't sit and relax as we travel
upstream.
Let's
ban together
to keep hope alive
Martin did, and he did
it with pride.....
And
on our journey
our final whistle stop
Guess where we will be?
On the mountain top!
