WEST LINCOLN FATHER CHARGED WITH CHILD ABUSE

By Jon Mayhew (CHERRYVILLE) -- The father of a 13-year-old Lincoln County boy was arrested Tuesday after authorities followed up on a Department of Social Services report that the boy may have been abused.

Randall Lee Beasley, 48, 1384 Bess Chapel Church Road, Cherryville, was charged with one felony count of child abuse.

“The suspect is accused of beating his son because of alleged bad grades he received in school,” said Lincoln County Sheriff’s detective Steve Grinnell.

Beasley was released from the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center on a $30,000 secured bond. The child was placed with a relative by the Department of Social Services
