June 14, 2011 -- A
Shelby man is jailed in Lincoln
County after authorities discover he
has a warrant for his arrest out of
Cleveland County.
Officers encountered Douglas James
Watts, 40, 1524 South Post Road, in
the parking lot of the Petro Express
at 1627 East Main Street.
Officer Brian Hoyle said he was on
routine patrol when he saw the
disturbance between Watts and a
female. Hoyle said he saw Watts throw
a duffle bag and phone from a van
into the parking lot.
The 38-year-old female was trying to
get Watts back into the vehicle.
She told me they were returning
from vacation and were just
tired, said Hoyle.
Watts said the same, adding he just
needed time to cool down. Officer
Hoyle discovered the warrant on Watts
from February 2011.
The suspect was arrested for failing
to appear in court on driving while
license revoked charges. He was taken
to the Lincoln County Jail under a
$500 secured bond.
Watts has a court date of July 13 in
Cleveland County Court in Shelby.
