TWO BANDY’S TEENS DIE IN WRECK

By Jon Mayhew (CATAWBA COUNTY) -- Grief counselors have been on hand at Bandys High School since an accident Monday afternoon took the lives of two teenage students.

The accident happened around 2:11pm at the intersection of Keisler Store Road and Slanting Bridge Road.

Sixteen year old Hayden Griffith, 8830 Bluestone Court, Sherrills Ford, was traveling west on Keisler Store Road when she ran a stop sign. Lindsay Barosci, 15, 7556 Anchors Away Lane, Sherrills Ford, was a passenger in Griffith’s vehicle.

“After they ran through the stop sign, their vehicle was struck by a vehicle traveling north on Slanting Bridge Road,” said Trooper J.S. Tabet with the North Carolina Highway Patrol. “The girls’ car was knocked into the southbound lane of Slanting Bridge, where it was struck by another vehicle.”

Tabet said the teenagers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Three other people were injured in the accident, where the victims were taken to Carolinas Medical Center Lincoln and Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.
