TRANSFORMER BLOWS IN THE CITY

By Jon Mayhew [LINCOLNTON] – Lincolnton firefighters were called to the intersection of S. Flint Street and East Water Street around 5:45pm Saturday to reports of an electrical situation.

A caller into the Lincoln County Communications Center reported a transformer was on fire, with power lines burning. Officials with the City of Lincolnton electrical department were also called.

Radio traffic indicated firefighters were on the scene, checking things out.

By 6pm, officials at the scene reported that two fuses were blown that went to warehouses. Also, two traffic signals were reported out at the 100 and 200 blocks of Water Street, at Poplar and Academy Streets.
