LINCOLNTON
-- Police officers normally find
drugs on suspects in their pockets, socks
or even shoes.
One
Lincolnton woman, however, decided to
stash her drugs in an uncommon place: her
rear end.
The
incident started Sunday afternoon when
officer Billy Burgin was on routine
patrol. He noticed Bobbi Jo Towery, 31,
of High street, driving in the Sycamore
and Cedar Streets area.
He
learned her driver's license was revoked,
so he stopped her. According to the
incident report, Burgin also learned
Towery was wanted for non-payment of
child support in Catawba County.
Burgin
called for Lt. Randy Willis to come back
him up. Willis ended up transporting
Towery to the Lincoln County Magistrate's
Office.
While in
custody at the Magistrate's Officec, the
report said Towery pulled something from
her pants and started swallowing a
substance.
Officers
questioned Towery, who refused to tell
them what she was eating.
The
report indicated Towery finally told them
it was Xanex.
According
to the report, officers searched Towery
again and found more Xanex in her rectum.
She was
taken to jail on charges of altering
criminal evidence; possession of xanex
and resisting arrest for not cooperating
with authorities. She was jailed under a
$8,416 bond. Her first appearance hearing
was Monday in Lincolnton District Court.
