By Jon Mayhew

LINCOLNTON –
Money is the motivator for solving crimes in Lincoln County with Crimestoppers and a tip has led to an arrest and the recovery of stolen items.

The tip led to an arrest of Kenneth Otis Bethea Jr., 20, Hill Road, Lincolnton, on February 20.

Detective Kelly Paris said the break-in occurred at a Buffalo Shoals Residence exactly one week before the arrest.

“A 50” flat screen TV and a Nintendo Wii gaming system was recovered at a residence on East Highway 27,” said Paris.

Bethea was charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen goods, and two counts of obtaining property by false pretense, all felony charges, and one misdemeanor count of injury to real property.

The suspect was taken before a Lincoln County magistrate and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $20,000 secured bond.
