LINCOLNTON
-- Authorities are investigating
about $100,000 of time card fraud, where
a female subject logged hours that
weren't worked at all.
The
incident was reported by the owners of
the Comfort Inn Hotel on East Main
Street. A representative with Hospitality
Group Management told Sgt. Willie Vaughn
that in 2007 and 2008, employees used
workers with stolen identifications.
The
suspect also allowed the employees to log
hours that weren't actually worked.
According
to the Lincolnton Police Department
incident report, about $100,000 worth of
payroll was logged during 2007 and 2008.
The
incident remains under investigation and
charges may be pending in the case.
HMG
representatives are looking into
employment records as part of the
investigation and are fully cooperating
with police.
