MAIDEN - Timothy "Tim" Dean Burke, age 56, of Maiden passed away Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte as a result of a motorcycle accident. Born November 9, 1952 in Catawba County, he was the son of Udean and Nancy Burke. Tim graduated from Asheville High School in 1971. He was a member of Center View Baptist Church in Maiden. Tim owned and operated Burke Tours in Maiden for 20 years. He rejoined the family business, Christian Tours in 2006, selling and promoting group tours. Tim was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and an avid member in the National Sporting Clay Association.

He is survived by:

Wife: Susie Burke

2 Sons: Aaron Burke and wife Miriam of Maiden, Jonathan Burke and wife Andrea of Newton

Daughter: Sundee Jones and husband Doug of Newton

Sister: Mellonee Owenby and husband Sonny of Newton

Special Friend: Jean Turner of Prospect Hill

7 Grandchildren: Kayla Burke, Jaylan Burke, Caleb Burke, Trinity Burke, Jordyn Beck, Dakota Lewis, Elijah Jones

Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. at Mt. Anderson Baptist Church, 4818 Hwy. 16 South, Maiden with Rev. Ray Rummage officiating.

Burial will follow in Center View Baptist Church Cemetery in Maiden.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00-8:30 p.m. at Burke Mortuary in Newton. The family will be at the home of Udean and Nancy Burke.
