TWO MEN ARRESTED FOR SHOOTING MOTEL MAINTENANCE WORKER

By Jon Mayhew

TAYLORSVILLE – A motel maintenance man for the Taylorsville Motel is shot after an argument involving two guests and authorities quickly worked to apprehend both suspects.

Taylorsville Police didn’t identify the victim except to say he was a white male who was shot in the arm and face. The victim was airlifted to a hospital in Winston-Salem and listed in fair condition.

The incident started midnight Monday when the motel manager went to check on a disturbance outside of room 20. The registered occupants and a guest were trying to break down the room door.

After the first argument, the maintenance worker came to fix the door. After the second argument, the worker was shot.

Both Taylorsville Police and the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office responded to the motel, which is located on Main Street in Taylorsville.

Adam Gregory, 37, of Taylorsville, left the scene and was apprehended a short time later. He was charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was jailed in Alexander County under a $300,000 secured bond.

Jerry Leon Flowers, 45, of Taylorsville, was also charged with being an accessory after the fact. He was jailed in Alexander County under a $78,000 secured bond.

Authorities also found both to be in possession of cocaine and both face felony drug charges.
