PROFILE AMERICA

July 15, 2008
Tuesday,
July 15th. The Snake River Stampede kicks off today in Nampa,
Idaho, rated as one of the top 10 professional rodeos in the
nation.
This 93rd annual event will draw close to 50,000 spectators. They
will see bareback and saddle bronc riding, bull riding, calf
roping and steer wrestling. The Snake River Stampede traces its
roots to the Nampa Harvest Festival of 1911.
Through the years, the facilities have been upgraded and lights
installed. Top entertainment such as Gene Autry, Roy Rogers and
the Sons of the Pioneers were on hand for years. Such stars have
been replaced lately with pure rodeo action.
Close to 6.5 million people attend rodeos across the U.S. each
year
