AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATING STABBING

By Jon Mayhew – EAST LINCOLN: Authorities spent Saturday night investigating a stabbing incident in eastern Lincoln County.

According to radio traffic, authorities were called to a residence in the 5200 block of Highway 73.

Traffic indicated a 25-year-old man cut his own throat and was running from the scene. His girlfriend told dispatchers at Lincoln County Communications Center that she was able to get the knife away from him.

The condition of the victim is unknown. Just before 11pm Saturday, authorities said it was safe for medic and firefighters to come to the scene.

At 11:05pm, radio traffic indicated the subject would be transported to Gaston Memorial Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
