  SIX MORE WEEKS OF WINTER:
Flurries possible sometime this week

Happy Groundhog Day Tuesday! Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, and now there's going to be six more weeks of winter. Flurries are predicted Tuesday/Wednesday for the greater Charlotte Area. Photo Contributed.

By Jon Mayhew (LINCOLN COUNTY) -- As the groundhog "Punxsutawney Phil" saw his shadow Tuesday in Pennsylvania, forecasters in the Charlotte area are predicting snow flurries for Wednesday.

There is a winter weather advisory in effect for the mountains, with four-to-six inches predicted for the higher mountain elevations for Wednesday.

However, as of Monday night, flurries may pass through the Charlotte region late Monday night or Tuesday afternoon. No accumulation is expected.

Temperatures are expected to be below freezing during the next few nights. Meteorologists expect warmer weather to be in the area by the weekend.
