LINCOLNTON -- Authorities are investigating a shooting Wednesday night that sent a 22-year-old man to the hospital.

Just after 10 p.m., Lincolnton Police officers responded to 1021 Gaston Street, where they found Anthony Robinson shot three times. He was rushed to Carolinas Medical Center Lincoln with gunshot wounds to the face and neck.

Officials with medic said Robinson was transported to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators had put crime scene tape around Edwards residence and were investigating the incident into the wee hours of Thursday morning.

Lincolnton Police Lt. Dwite Shehan said the department is familiar with Robinson.

"I've arrested him before," said Shehan.

Authorities believe Robinson was shot on the back porch. Investigators spent overnight interviewing people who lived around Robinson as to what they heard at the time of the shooting.
