ONE
MILLION DOLLAR BOND GIVEN ON DRUG CHARGES

By Jon Mayhew
STANLEY--A Stanley man is arrested
Friday on a number of drug
charges involving forged prescriptions and
methamphetamine and is
jailed in Lincoln County under a $1 million bond.
Investigators say Gerald Lee Sharpe, 33, of
Killian Farm Road, Stanley,
faces 16 counts of trafficking; 8 counts of
obtaining a controlled
substance by fraud or forgery; 8 counts of
possession of
methamphetamine and 8 counts of obtaining
property by false pretenses.
Authorities in Lincoln County received a tip from
another law enforcement
agency, and the investigation into Sharpe's
activities began.
Friday, a narcotics officer passed Shapre's
vehicle near his home, turning
on the vehicle and taking Sharpe into custody at
his residence. Sharpe is
accused of passing forged prescriptions at the
Wal-Mart Pharmacy on
Highway 73 in Denver and trafficking
methamphetamine between March
and October of 2008. Officers seized some of the
prescription drugs
during the arrest.
Sharpe was brought before a Lincoln County
Magistrate and placed in the
Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a one
million dollar bond. His
next court appearance will be Monday in Lincoln
County District Court.
