Environmental Health Department
are co-sponsoring a 16-hour
Serving Safe Food Certification
Course for foodservice managers.
The course will be held from 1:30
p.m. - 5:30 p.m., October 14, 16,
21 & 23rd, 2008 at the
Catawba County Agricultural
Resources Center, just off
Business Highway 321 South in
Newton. Cost is $84 per
participant and covers the cost
for the course book, materials
and exam.
Foodservice employees who attend
will receive in-depth training in
all areas of food safety. The
course covers the latest
information in food safety,
including personal hygiene; how
to use food thermometers and keep
temperature logs; how to safely
prepare, store, cook, hold, cool,
reheat and serve food; and
methods of cleaning and
sanitizing.
An exam will be administered on
the last day of class (23rd), and
participants scoring 75% or
better will receive ServSafe
Certification through the
National Restaurant Association
Education Foundation.
