LINCOLN LETTER CARRIERS PARTICIPATE IN SCHOOL TOOLS
Schools in Lincoln open Monday

LINCOLNTON –
Saturday marked a special day for WSOC-TV’s “School Tools” campaign, as letter carriers from across Lincoln County were picking up school supplies donated by their customers.

Postal customers left school supplies at their mailboxes and were picked up by letter carriers throughout the day. The supplies are going to be distributed locally.

The “School Tools” campaign is designed to get school supplies to families who are in need and/or can’t afford school supplies. The first day of school in Lincoln County is Monday, Aug. 25.

At a recent Lincoln Economic Development Association board meeting, Lincoln County Schools superintendent Dr. David Martin said the transition from the summer to school year is “going smoothly.”

When the school bell rings, Martin said more than 12,000 students will return to school.

“That’s the number we have as of this week,” said Martin.
