Nominations Being Taken for Scholarship

By Jon Mayhew (Lincolnton) – Nominations are being taken for a $750 dollar scholarship offered by the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Secretaries Association (NCCESA) through March 5.

According to Joyce Dorsey with Lincoln County Cooperative Extension, the scholarships are available to North Carolina residents pursuing a college degree.

“This applies to an Associates Degree and/or Bachelors Degree in a business related field of study,” said Dorsey.

Applicants must be enrolled to attend classes at a college during the 2010-11 school year.

“The scholarship is awarded annually to honor the work and dedication of Edith Herter and Frances O’Neal, co-leaders in forming the NCCESA in 1973,” said Dorsey.

Qualified applicants interested in applying for this scholarship can obtain an application packet from the financial aid office at their local community college.

Additional information can be obtained by contacting the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service, Lincoln County Center, at (704) 736-8452, or by visiting the Center at 115 West Main Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
