Cruiser slightly damaged
after investigation
By Jon Mayhew
A Lincolnton Police Department
cruiser is slightly damaged after a
larceny investigation on Saddletree
Lane Monday afternoon.
Officer Tony Potts was returning a
ring reported stolen from the
residence earlier in the day. As he
was backing down the driveway, his
back bumper scraped a rock.
Lt. Randy Willis said Potts reported
nothing either in front of or behind
his cruiser when he pulled into the
driveway.
The damage estimate was set at around
$100.
Potts followed procedure by
immediately notifying his supervisor,
Lt. Willis, who came to the scene to
view the damage.
Authorities arrested Joshua Oliver
for the larceny of the ring. The
homeowner had contracted Oliver to
perform remodeling work on the house.
The resident noticed the ring missing
on Friday. Oliver was arrested and
charged with obtaining property by
false pretenses, larceny and
possessing stolen property, all
felonies.
Authorities said Oliver pawned the
ring at the Boger City Pawn Shop.
Oliver was jailed under a $10,000
secured bond and had a first
appearance in Lincoln County District
Court on Wednesday.
