By Jon Mayhew [VALE] – Lincoln County Sheriff’s detectives have charged a Vale resident with going on a shopping spree, using a relative’s personal information.

According to public information officer Larry Seagle, Ricky Wendell Lane Jr., 29, 169 Cedar Ridge Lane, used his wife’s grandmother’s identification to open accounts.

“The accounts were opened at Sears and Walmart,” said Seagle. “The victim found out about the incident and reported it to the sheriff’s office on Dec. 6, 2008.”

Segale said Detective Andrew Alvarado charged Lane with three felony counts of financial transaction card fraud; three felony counts of financial identity fraud; and one count of misdemeanor credit card fraud.

Lane was arrested on Feb.16 when he reported for work at Cardinal Healthcare in Lincolnton. He is in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond.
