JAILED FOR RESISTING ARREST

Hughes is charged with drug possession as
well as trying to fight Lincolnton Police
officers.

(LINCOLNTON) Police
respond to a disturbance just after
midnight Thursday and end up arresting a
man for resisting arrest.
Sergeant Spencer Summers responded to 218
Lynch Street in reference to Joey Lee
Hughes, 19, 491 Lineberger Road,
Lincolnton, who was causing an argument.
When Summers arrived, he found Hughes
sitting on the ground talking to a
female.
When I tried to get Hughes
attention, he started cursing me,
said Summers.
Summers tried taking Hughes into custody,
but the teen wouldnt go down
without a fight. Hughes had to be tasered
by Lt. Dwite Shehan.
After being checked out at Carolinas
Medical Center Lincoln, he was served a
warrant on a failure to appear charge. He
was also charged with resisting arrest
and possession of marijuana.
He was taken to jail under a $2,500
secured bond.
