LINCOLN RAPE SUSPECT ARRESTED

Statesville police arrested a Charlotte man who was wanted on
statutory rape charges in Lincolnton.

Authorities took Jeremy Albert Alford, 23, 201 Glenn Rock Road,
Charlotte, into custody Monday evening. Lincolnton Police Lt.
Dwite Shehan took the suspect into custody from Statesville
Police.

Investigators accuse Alford of having a “consensual” sexual
relationship with a child under the age of 16. The incident took
place at a residence on Childs Street according to a report at the
Lincolnton Police Department.

According to the report, Alford was buying marijuana from the
victim’s mother, then using the marijuana himself, as well as
giving pot to the mother and the teenager.

Alford was taken to the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center
under a $40,000 secured bond.
