MAIDEN -- Several
agencies including Lincoln County
narcotics officers, Burke County drug
task force and the U.S. Postal Service
teamed up to intercept a marijauna
delivery through the mail. Now a Lincoln
County man is in trouble for "postal
pot."
Charles Lee Pridemore, 36, of 4163 Kent
Street, Maiden was charged with one
felony count each of Possession of Stolen
Goods, Possession of a Firearm by a
Felon, Possession with the Intent to
Manufacture, Sell and Deliver of a
Schedule I Controlled Substance, and
Possession of Stolen Goods.
Narcotics officers say in October, Burke
County officers and the Postal Service
Investigators opened a suspicious package
mailed to someone in Burke County. They
delivered the marijuana to the subject
and immediately executed a search warrant
when the package was accepted.
Investigators were told that Pridemore
had asked that person to accept the
package and bring it to him
After the package was delivered to the
Lincoln County residence, Sheriffs
Office Narcotics Investigators and the
Tactical Response Team executed a search
warrant at 4163 Kent Street and seized
more than five pounds of marijuana and
arrested Pridemore.
They also confiscated two handguns and
several rifles hidden in a false wall in
the residence. Pridemore is also a
registered sex offender.
Pridemore was released from the Harven A.
Crouse Detention Center under a $50,000
secured bond. The U. S. Postal Service is
working with Alcohol, Tobacco and
Firearms to pursue federal charges.
