LINCOLNTON
-- Several calls were made Sunday
afternoon about a woman leaning over the
bridge at the Gaston Street Extension.
Police Sgt. Willie Vaughn responded to
the incident and found a 29 year-old
female who threatened to either jump onto
Highway 321 south or lay across the train
tracks to get hit by a train.
According to Vaughn's report, he asked
the woman what she was doing.
"She told me she was waiting for a
train and I asked her why," said
Vaughn. "She told me she wanted to
die."
Vaughn began talking to the woman after
calling for officer Dave Mocanu and
Lincoln EMS. As Vaughn was talking with
the victim, Mocanu came over to the other
side of the woman.
The report indicated they pulled the
woman away from the edge of the tressel.
The victim began resisting officers and
became dead weight when they tried to
take her to the waiting EMS ambulance.
The officers carried the victim to the
ambulance and she was taken to Kings
Mountain Hospital for evaluation.
The Carolina Scoop will not reveal the
victim's identity.
