- The Second Citizens
Police Academy graduated recently with an
academy dinner and awards ceremony.
The academy began in early September with
28 students chosen from those who
submitted applications and cleared a
background check.
During the
course, the class was schooled on court
procedures, criminal investigations,
narcotics investigations, domestic
violence, crime prevention, juvenile
procedures, weapons and use of force,
patrol procedures and community
policing. The instructors for the
session were state and local officers and
officials who deal with each course
subject on a daily basis.
Citizens got a
valuable insight on how police officers
perform their duties and how the Sheriffs
Office serves the community.
First Sergeant
Erin Long, who coordinated the program
said, Just like the first Citizens
Academy this one was a tremendous
success.
Another Citizens
Academy will be held in the spring of
2009.
