ADMITS TO PHARMACY CRIME WHILE IN
JAIL

-- A Maiden Highway
woman, charged with the attempted
break-in of an automated teller
machine at the State Employee's
Credit Union, is now charged with
a break-in at Sentry Drug and the
attempted break-in at The Drug
Store.
According to
Lincolnton Police Sgt. Matt
Painter, Teresa Mosteller
Scronce, 43, 4801 Maiden Highway,
faces several charges in the
case.
Painter said she
admitted to investigators of
breaking into Sentry Drug last
week and trying to break-in to
The Drug Store early Monday
morning of last week.
Surveilance video
captured Scronce spending nearly
an hour trying to get into The
Drug Store on Center Street.
Painter charged
Scronce with felony attempted
breaking, entering and larceny;
felony breaking, entering and
larceny and trafficking in
controlled substances. Her bond
was increased to $125,000 and she
remains in the Harven A. Crouse
Detention Center in Lincolnton.
The city charges are
in addition to the charges she
faced in attempting to break-in
to the ATM machine.
Deputy Steven
Grinnell was taking the report on
the break-in when he noticed a
suspect vehicle at a nearby
residence that had been seen on
video surveillance. Grinnell
interviewed a female at that
location who admitted to the
break-in attempt during the early
morning hours of last Monday.
Officers found $600
hidden on Ms. Scronce and seized
100 dosage units of Xanax. Damage
to the ATM Machine was placed at
$1,500.
Deputy Grinnell
charged Scronce, 43, with one
count each of felony
Safecracking, Felony Possession
of Burglary Tools, Injury to
Personal Property, Possession of
a Controlled Substance, and
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
