LINCOLNTON -- Mr. Paul Douglas Smith, age 81 of 911 White Street in Lincolnton passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Cardinal Heath Care Center.

His Funeral service will be held Tuesday January 27, 2009 at 11:00am in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Olive Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Lawndale. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith was a native of Lincoln County born on December 15, 1927, son of the late Edward D. Smith and Maggie Perkins Smith. He worked as a spinner in the textile industry before retiring.

He is survived by two sons Douglas Smith and Paul M. Smith both of Lincolnton; two daughters Faye Painter, and Joann Cook both of Lincolnton; one step sister Mary Honeycutt of Cherryville; ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.
