Pasture Renovation Workshop

VALE -– September 11, 2008 – North Carolina Cooperative Extension is hosting a special workshop and field day Thursday, September 11, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., starting at the North Brook Community Center (568 Hwy 274, Vale, NC 28168). The event is open to all livestock producers (cattle, goats, & sheep) and horse owners.

This workshop and field day will feature presentations on:

  • Pasture Renovation & Management

  • Soil Sampling & Nutrient Management

  • Common Pasture Weeds and Their Contro

  • Rotational Grazing Management

  • Hands-On Pasture Activities

    • Plant/Weed Identification Activity

    • Pasture Walk

    • Double DAFOR Activity

Those who plan on attending are encouraged to pre-register to help us prepare for adequate hand-outs and food. There is a fee of $6.00, which will be collected at the door, and dinner will be served. This workshop is also approved for 2 hours of pesticide recertification credits (N, O, D, X) and 2 hours of animal waste operator credits.

Presenters for this workshop and field day are Jeff Carpenter, livestock agent – Catawba County, Libby Yarber, forage & field crops agent – Lincoln County, and Lara Worden, farm management agent – Gaston County.
