IRON STATION MAN CHARGED WITH SEX OFFENSE

Lincoln County Sheriff’s detective Sally Dellinger charged an Iron Station man with a felony charge of taking indecent liberties with a minor.

The suspect is identified as Rusty Ryan Anderson, 18, of the 5000 block of Amity Lane. The victim was a five-year-old female.

Anderson was arrested on March 5 and released on a $9,000 secured bond. More charges are pending in the case.

Lincolnton Police investigated an assault at the Lincoln House Restaurant early Saturday morning, where they found a 30-year-old victim unconscious in the parking lot.

Title I Preschool Program Now Taking Applications

Lincoln County Schools is now taking applications for the Title I Preschool Program at the following sites:

• Iron Station Elementary
• Love Memorial Elementary
• S. Ray Lowder Elementary

The Title I Preschool Program is designed to prepare at-risk four year old children for success in school. Children must be four years old by August 31st. They must be eligible for public kindergarten the following year. Students must be considered at-risk as defined primarily by low income and the Brigance Preschool Screen II Assessment. Additional weight is given for children who have disabilities or who are limited English proficient. To learn more about enrolling your child(ren) in the Title I Preschool Program, please contact one of the schools listed above.

STATEMENT FROM CITY OF LINCOLNTON

The City of Lincolnton has been a supplier of public water since the 1920's. The current Water Treatment Plant located on Reepsville Road, was built in the 1970's. In the early 1990's, the six million gallon per day plant was operating at near capacity. The state of North Carolina applied pressure to the City to develop a plan to produce additional water in order to meet increased demand from City customers.

The City explored several options in an effort to proceed with the most cost effective, and most dependable source of water, for the future of the City of Lincolnton. Several options were discussed with the County, including a water authority, a water district, and a merger of the two

Lincoln County Sheriff's detective Don Mauldin is asking for the public's help in locating a green 2006 Honda Chuck-Wagon four-by-four, stolen from a west Lincoln residence between 5pm Feb. 27 and 6:45am Feb. 28. The vehicle was removed from an outbuilding behind the residence and is valued at $5,000.

If anyone has information, contact Detective Mauldin through Crimestoppers at 704-736-8909. Anonymous tips that lead to arrest in any cases could mean a cash reward of up to $1,000.
