OPERATION FIRECRACKER
NETS MORE THAN 130 TRAFFIC, CRIMINAL
VIOLATIONS
LINCOLNTON For the
first week of the 2009 Booze It &
Lose It campaign, known as Operation
Firecracker, more than 130 traffic
and criminal violations were recorded
according to First Sergeant Larry Ingle.
The Lincoln County Sheriffs
Office conducted a total of four
checkpoints and nine random patrols.
There were also:
--One person arrested for
Driving While Impaired (DWI)
--Six safety belt violations
--Five drug violations
--Three criminal violations
--22 Speeding
violations
--One uninsured motorist
--94 Traffic violations
--Six prisoners transported to the Harven
A. Crouse Detention Center.
Operation Firecracker
is a statewide initiative designed to
keep North Carolinas roads safe
during the Fourth of July holiday as well
as the summer travel season. The Lincoln
County Sheriffs Office partnered
with the North Carolina Highway Patrol
during Operation Firecracker.
Last year statewide, more than
2,100 citations were issued during the
operation.
