Officers Still Looking For These Suspects

A Catawba County man in connection with two armed robberies of individuals in the Wal-Mart parking lot on Highway 73.

Raymond Edwin Nesbitt, 59, formerly of Bridle Path Drive in Vale, NC is charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of obtaining property by false pretenses.

Nesbitt is accused of taking a credit card and a small amount of money from Camille Schiavone in one robbery and a credit card from Jeanette Garcia in another robbery. Both incidents occurred in the Wal-Mart parking lot around 1:00 p.m. on October 19, 2008.

Nesbitt is entered as wanted for a parole violation by the North Carolina Department of Corrections

Lincoln County Sheriff’s detectives are looking for this individual in connection with a “smash and grab” break-in at the Denver Cornerstone Convenience Store at 436 N. Highway 16 on September 28, 2008.

A black male drove up to the business in what appeared to be a white rollback or vehicle carrier and broke out a front window in the store to gain entry. The thief entered the store through the window and fled with a large amount of cigarettes and cash from the register.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a possible suspect in the theft of approximately $12,000 and a safe from Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church at 537 N. Highway 16 in Denver.

A Sister at the church encountered an individual inside the church around 2:30 pm on Sunday, December 14, 2008. The man was wandering the halls and told her he thought the church was a location similar to Christian Ministries. He then left the church and got into a clean white SUV possibly a Ford Explorer. He was not carrying anything when he left the church. The theft of the two-foot x two foot black safe weighing about 70 pounds was not discovered until Monday morning, December 15, 2008.

He is described as a white or possibly Hispanic male, with a slight accent. He was wearing jeans and a gray sweatshirt with the hood pulled up on his head. The clothing was described as dirty. He is estimated to be between 35 and 45 years old.

Anyone with information about the suspects should contact the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office Detective Division at 704-736-8856 or call Crime Stoppers at 704-736-8909. If your Crime Stoppers tip leads to an arrest you could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
