Hundreds of people gathered in the Big Lots parking lot on Thursday night as a rumor spread like wildfire that pop sensation Justin Bieber would appear with Usher in Lincolnton as part of the Extreme Makeover visit to the city.

The Carolina Scoop contacted Lincolnton Police chief Rodney Jordan regarding the rumor Thursday afternoon.

“It is just a rumor,” said Chief Jordan.

A production crew from Extreme Makeover was actually filming the stocking of a new store in the Lincolnton Plaza Shopping Center called House of Hope.

The rumor Bieber was coming to Lincolnton caused a widespread panic, of sorts, as people of all ages gathered at the shopping center in anticipation.

Police said even students left Lincolnton High School in anticipation of purchasing tickets.

The filming is part of the James and Devonda Friday Extreme Makeover house where the Lincolnton couple has been given a full home makeover.

Police sources say Lithia Inn Road is blocked at Westfield Court as the makeover is wrapping up on Moore Court. The sources also say the production will wrap up this weekend.
