MOTORIST HELPS
ELDERLY LADY FIND FAMILY
Woman found wandering on Salem Church Road
LINCOLNTON -- An unidentified motorist
helps an elderly lady who appeared to be
wandering around Salem Church Road.
The man brought the woman to the Lincolnton
Police Department on Tuesday, and told Lt. Tony
Hallman that he found the woman walking down the
road towards High Shoals. She was hitch-hiking
according to the man.
"She was close to home in all
actuality," said Hallman, after the woman's
son came to the department and picked her up.
"She just forgot where she was."
Several department employees welcomed the woman
and talked to her, learning her name was Grace
Keener. The unidentified man brought Keener
inside and sat her down at the conference table
inside the department.
Lt. Hallman started making phone calls, trying to
track down the woman's family.
Keener told records supervisor Cindy Sain why she
was on the road.
"I was walking," said Keener.
"That's all. I was walking."
After about 20 minutes, Keener's son came to pick
her up at the police department.
Keener was uninjured.
