Man charged with assault, kidnapping just got off probation

Daniel Morrison

(March 11, 2011) – Daniel Franklin Morrison had been off probation less than three years after serving time in prison for attempting to kill his former girlfriend, Tiffany Daugherty, in August 2004.

Now Morrison is in trouble with the law again, this time for assaulting and kidnapping his current girlfriend.

The incident happened at a James Street residence, which is in the county. Deputy B. Posey responded to the scene Monday morning and arrested Morrison after an investigation.

Morrison was taken to the Lincoln County Jail under a $20,000 secured bond on the charges. The suspect has a court date in Lincoln County District Court on March 14.

The suspect was convicted September 2005 in the incident involving Daugherty, who is the daughter of former Lincoln County Sheriff Timothy Daugherty.

According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections Web site, Morrison came off eight months probation in August 2009.

He has been previously convicted of simple assault, possession of drug paraphernalia and kidnapping. His prison record includes 10 infractions from May 2006 to April 2008 including disobeying orders, a sexual offense, fighting and profane language.
