Man charged
with assault, kidnapping just got off
probation

Morrison had been off probation less
than three years after serving time
in prison for attempting to kill his
former girlfriend, Tiffany Daugherty,
in August 2004.
Now Morrison is in trouble with the
law again, this time for assaulting
and kidnapping his current
girlfriend.
The incident happened at a James
Street residence, which is in the
county. Deputy B. Posey responded to
the scene Monday morning and arrested
Morrison after an investigation.
Morrison was taken to the Lincoln
County Jail under a $20,000 secured
bond on the charges. The suspect has
a court date in Lincoln County
District Court on March 14.
The suspect was convicted September
2005 in the incident involving
Daugherty, who is the daughter of
former Lincoln County Sheriff Timothy
Daugherty.
According to the North Carolina
Department of Corrections Web site,
Morrison came off eight months
probation in August 2009.
He has been previously convicted of
simple assault, possession of drug
paraphernalia and kidnapping. His
prison record includes 10 infractions
from May 2006 to April 2008 including
disobeying orders, a sexual offense,
fighting and profane language.
