HICKORY
- Mary Lucille McMahan Propst
Fulbright, of Hickory, passed away on
Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 5:00 a.m. at
Brockford Inn Assisted Living in Granite
Falls. Born on August 19, 1931 in
Guilford County-High Point, NC, she was
the daughter of the late Bennett McMahan
and Bertha Swing McMahan.
Lucille worked at Century Furniture
Company, Dehart Motor Lines Trucking
Company, Gaines Motor Lines Trucking
Company, Norton-Ramsey Trucking Company
and Foothills Trucking Company. She
graduated from Banoak School in Vale, NC
in 1949. She helped publish the County,
Heritage of Catawba County, Vol. 1 and
Vol. 2 and helped publish the Catawba
County Cousin. She was president of the
Catawba County Genealogical Society.
In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by her first husband,
William Monroe Propst; her second
husband, Enoch Fulbright; brothers, Fred
Grayson McMahan and Walter Lee McMahan.
Lucille is survived by her step-son,
Kenneth Propst and his wife, Margaret;
step-daughter, Rita Ann Floyd, III and
her husband, Ben; four
step-grandchildren; five step
great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby McMahan
McCray of Wake Forest, NC; brothers,
Claude McMahan, Jack McMahan and his
wife, Billie and Levi ?Butch? McMahan,
all of Hickory; and a great host of
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A service of remembrance will be held at
3:00 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2009 in the
chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory
with Rev. Gary Patterson officiating.
Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial
Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1:30
p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home
prior to the service.
