DALLAS - Mark Shannon Michael, 54, died July 13, 2009, at his residence.

He was born in York County, S.C., son of Mary Sue Cloninger Michael Ferguson and the late Fred Michael.

He was a graduate of North Gaston High School and was a veteran of U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Sue Cloninger Michael Ferguson; two sons: Christopher Jason Michael and Fred Gregory Michael of Tacoma, Washington; one daughter: Cierra Michelle Michael of San Diego, California; two brothers: Jeff Michael and wife Jenny of Bessemer City, Phillip Ferguson of Canada; one sister: Lynn Faulkner and husband Scott of Lincolnton

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service.

Memorial service will be 4 p. m. Friday at the Dallas Funeral Home Chapel, Dallas with the Rev. Frank Herman officiating.

He was preceded in death by his father; stepfather, William M. Ferguson; one brother, Jon Keith Ferguson.

The family requests that memorials be made to: Cancer Services of Gaston County, 220 E. Franklin Blvd., Gastonia, NC 28052.
