MAN HELD IN STABBING

LINCOLNTON – A Lincolnton man continues recovering from a Thursday morning stabbing that left another Lincolnton man in jail. A Crimestoppers tip is credited with leading to an arrest in the case.

Lincolnton Police said that on Sept. 4 around 12:30 a.m., friends took Anthony Gene Robinson to Carolinas Medical Center – Lincoln with a single stab wound to the chest. He was then taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte by ambulance where he is recovering.

By noon, authorities arrested Billy Allen Clippard Jr. on charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. The incident occurred on the 700 block between East Pine and East Sycamore Streets, stemming from an altercation between the two men.

Clippard was taken to the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond.
