MAN CHARGED WITH JUVENILE SEXUAL ASSAULT

By Jon Mayhew (LINCOLNTON) -- A Lincolnton man faces charges of juvenile sexual assault from an incident that occurred in July 2004.

Don Travis Phillips, 34, 2700 block of Highway 150 east, was charged with one count of statutory rape and one count of taking indecent liberties with a minor. The female victim was 13-years-old at the time of the incident, which occurred at the couple’s residence.

Phillips was arrested Friday without incident. Phillips was taken to the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $55,000 secured bond. The investigation into the incident is continuing and more charges are possible.
