MAN CHARGED WITH MISSUSE OF 911

By Jon Mayhew

Some people just don’t get the message that 911 is for true emergencies only.

A Lincolnton man threatens to kill everyone in his Davis Street residence early Sunday morning and ends up getting arrested for misuse of 911.

Around 3am, officer Mark Sain responded to 312 E. Davis Street, where he was told by one of the victim’s friends that the victim – identified as Mark Beal, 36 – was going to “kill everyone.”

According to Sain, Beal denied ever saying he was going to harm anyone, a fact confirmed by the victim’s grandmother.

“We cleared the scene, and about 15 minutes later were called by the (Lincoln County) Communications Center,” said Sain.

Sain returned to the residence and told Beal that if he kept calling 911 and didn’t have an emergency, he’d be charged with misuse of 911.

About three hours later, officers were notified that Beal had been calling 911 repeatedly, threatening again to harm everyone in his residence.

According to Lt. Kenny Shrum, Beal was taken into custody under a $1,000 bond on charges of misusing 911.
