Authorities respond
to head-on wreck

Authorities were called to a head-on accident on Maiden Highway at Whitehouse Drive early Thursday morning.

Just after midnight, North 321 firefighters, Lincoln EMS and Lincoln rescue were called to the 3300 block of Maiden Highway. Two people were reportedly still in the vehicles when authorities arrived at the scene.

A 39-year-old male was reportedly pinned in the wreckage. Authorities at the scene reported having two patients that were still in the vehicles.

One person was transported by Lincoln EMS to Carolinas Medical Center Lincoln.

Firefighters reported Maiden Highway closed down due to the accident. The Carolinas Medical Center chopper, Med Center Air, was not flying due to weather.

Foggy conditions in the area may have played a part in the accident. Trooper JM Futrell with the North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
