Police are investigating a pair of
separate larceny cases involving Bank of
America debit cards that happened within
24 hours of one another.
The first incident was reported at the
police department Tuesday around 2:15pm.
The incident, according to Officer Jimmy
Barlowe, actually happened on January 25.
The victim said she went to the ATM
around 6pm and advised she left her card
in the machine and left, said
Barlowe. The unknown suspect in the
case used her card only 59 seconds later
according to bank records.
Barlowe added the victim realized what
happened only after the bank notified her
of non-sufficient funds in her account.
The victim in the case has a new card,
said Barlowe, and has been reimbursed the
money by the bank. Total amount of money
taken in the first case is around $100.
The second case was reported roughly 24
hours later, Wednesday around 2:05pm.
According to Officer Dwayne McAllister,
the victim came to the police department
and said he couldnt locate his ATM
card.
The bank told the victim his card
was last used on Tuesday, said
McAllister. The victim believes the
card was stolen on Monday and used at
several places in Lincolnton.
Those places include the Raceway and Food
Lion on East Main Street, as well as
Walmart on North Generals Boulevard. In
total, there were 11 transactions
unauthorized on the victims debit
card totaling more than $1,100.
The investigation into both cases is
continuing.
