JUVENILES
CHARGED WITH SETTING FIRES
By
Jon Mayhew (DENVER)
-- While a 15-year-old East
Lincoln High School student hasn't been
formally charged in a fire at East
Lincoln Christian Ministries,
investigator Robin Powell with the
Lincoln County Sheriff's Office is
recommending charges against the
juvenile.
The
identity of the suspect can't be relased
to to his age. However, Powell said the
student is accused of setting fire to two
signs taped to the side of the building.
"He's
believed to be one of three suspects
caught on surveilance video," said
Powell.
There
was minor damage to the wall of the metal
building. Detective Powell will
draw juvenile petitions recommending
Juvenile Services charge the juvenile
with the felony burning a building.
Two
other juveniles are expected to be
charged in connection with the incident.
Meanwhile,
a 12 year old has been charged in
connection with the woods fire on
Campground Road on January 9 and a fire
in the yard of an unoccupied mobile home
on Burnhurst Lane in Denver on February
1.
The fire
burned an area of about 400 square feet
near the East Lincoln Christian
Ministries and the historic Rock Springs
Campground. Detectives will recommend
that Juvenile Services charge the youth
with misdemeanor setting fire to grass or
woodlands in connection with the
Campground Road incident and Breaking and
Entering and Damage to property in the
Burnhurst Lane fire.
Detective
Robin Powell said no more charges are
expected to be filed in the Campground
Road fire but more charges are possible
in the incidents at East Lincoln
Christian Ministries and Burnhurst Lane.
Investigation
into the fires is continuing with other
charges expected next week.
