VALE - John David “Big David” Benfield, age 50, of Vale, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009. He was born December 29, 1958 in Mecklenburg to Thelma Drum Benfield and the late John Benfield. Mr. Benfield was employed as a truck driver at King Hickory Furniture. He was preceded in death by his father, father-in-law, Everette Lee Dellinger and 3 Uncles.

Survivors Include: Wife : Teresa Dellinger Benfield of the home

Son: David Anthony “Little David” Benfield of the home

Mother: Thelma Drum Benfield of Maiden

2 Brothers: Lowell Benfield of Lilburn, GA Eric Benfield of Dacula, GA

2 Sisters: Vickie Hedrick of Maiden Ronda Benfield of Maiden

Mother-in-law: Jean Dellinger of Lincolnton

A Number of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Burke Mortuary Chapel with Rev. William Kanupp officiating.

Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton.

The family will receive friends on Saturday prior to the service from 1:45-2:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
