Two RSI Employees Arrested on Separate Charges of Identity Theft

Antonio Tornez Nava .......... Maria Remedios Rosaldo Carrasco
LINCOLNTON -- Lincoln County Sheriff’s detectives arrested two people Thursday on Identity Theft cases in California and Texas.
Detective Andrew Alvarado arrested Antonio Tornez Nava, 25, of Gastonia and Maria Remedios Rosaldo Carrasco, 42, of Catawba Street in Lincolnton on one count each of felony Identity Theft.

Nava was using identification of Eduardo Chacon, a Los Angeles fire fighter, who lost his wallet in 2001. Chacon was not aware of someone using his identity until contacted by the IRS about why he didn’t report all of his income.

Carrasco was using the identification of a Harlingen, Texas woman, Delia Zepeda, whose purse was stolen during a vehicle break-in. She was also made aware that someone was using her identification when contacted by the IRS.

Detective Alvarado said both suspects are illegal immigrants. Nava had been working for three years under the assumed name while Carrasco had been working for five years using the Texas woman’s identification. Both were employed at RSI Plant #2 in the Lincoln County Industrial Park.

Both suspects were placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $20,000 secured bond each.
Detectives Sally Dellinger, Robin Powell, and 1st Sgt. Lee Keller assisted in the investigation and arrests.
