Two Separate Weekend
Housefires Suspicious

A mobile home on Hestertown Road
completely burned to the ground Friday
night by the time firefighters responded
to the call. It was one of two structure
fires over the weekend that are under
investigation.
LINCOLN
COUNTY -- The Lincoln County
Sheriff's Office and the Lincoln County
Fire Marshal's Office are investigating a
pair of weekend house fires that Fire
Marshal Mike Futrell calls suspicious.
First, a two-alarm
structure fire Friday night sent a total
of four fire departments to a residence
in the 700 block of Hestertown Road.
The South Fork Fire
Department received manpower and
apparatus assistance from Crouse,
Lincolnton and High Shoals Fire
Departments in battling the mobile home
fire, which was reported just before
10pm. The fire was called in to the
Lincoln County 911 Center by a neighbor.
The mobile home was
burnt to the ground by the time
firefighters arrived at the scene. Fire
Marshal Futrell said the home was a total
loss, having been burnt to the ground by
the time firefighters arrived at the
scene.
"We did a
preliminary sweep of the residence and
didn't find anyone inside," said
South Fork Fire Chief Rick Ellis.
Hestertown Road is
located off Gates Road and Business
Highway 321 South. Lincoln Rescue and
Lincoln EMS also responded to the scene.
Less than 24 hours
after the first fire, fire departments in
eastern Lincoln County were called to a
Hines Circle residence to reports of a
structure fire.
Fire Marshal Futrell
said in the 1:40pm Saturday fire, someone
was in the residence 20 minutes before
the fire was reported.
Firefighters reported
seeing heavy black smoke while responding
to the residence. East Lincoln, Denver
and Alexis Fire Departments responded to
the scene.
"The residence
was being used for storage," said
Futrell. "Nobody was in the house at
the time of the fire."
Hines Circle is
located off Daybrook Court.
Both fires remained
under investigation over the weekend.
