Lincolnton Police Officers.

LINCOLNTON -- Like The Carolina Scoop, Fatz Cafe of Lincolnton is known for excellence. For operating partner Byron Sackett, that means excellence in food, excellence in customer service and all-around excellence in atmosphere.

Tuesday, The Carolina Scoop's publisher, Jon Mayhew, and Sackett announced the creation of the Lincolnton Police "Officer of the Month."

The officer picked for the honor will receive a framed certificate and a $25 gift certificate to Fatz Cafe, which is located on East Main Street in Lincolnton.

"Elizabeth and I decided to do this for the hard-working officers of Lincolnton Police," said Mayhew. "The thin blue line that protects Lincolnton needs to hear 'thank you' more often."

Sackett agreed wtih Mayhew's sentiment.

"It's yet another way to become involved in the community," said Sackett, "and so many times we forget to say 'thank you' to the men and women who are putting their lives on the line for us each day."
