As plans are being made for the new Hesed House of Hope shelter in the Lincoln Street area, the new homeless shelter got a much-needed boost.

Leadership Lincoln presented Hesed board chairman Cathy Davis with a check for more than $11,000.

“The money will go towards the permanent facility in the Oaklawn community,” said Davis.

Davis said fundraising for the new shelter is “going very well.”

The Timken Foundation has already contributed $100,000 towards Hesed House, as well as a match of up to $40,000 dollar-for-dollar raised by Hesed volunteers.

“We’re about halfway to our goal,” said Davis.
