ONE
VICTIM IN GLADDEN ACCIDENT DIES
Two Children, boy age 2 and girl age
5, are in critical condition

NORTH
LINCOLN -- The Carolina Scoop has
learned one of three victims in a tragic Tuesday
night accident has died at Carolinas Medical
Center.
Chastity Spivey,
23, was driving the family SUV on Gladden Road
near Springs East Road around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday,
when she lost control of the vehicle and flipped
upside down in a pond.
Spivey and her
two children -- John Peyton, 2, and Taylor
Peyton, 5 -- were trapped in the SUV in about
five feet of water.
Authorities
rescued the trio, who were all airlifted to
Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Authorities said
Spivey died after 9 a.m. Wednesday. John and
Taylor remain in critical condition.
Spivey's husband
was driving in front of his family when the
accident happened. He jumped in the water and
started screaming for help.
Neighbors who
heard the accident also tried to free the trio
from the vehicle but weren't able to do so.
Firefighters
were able to use the jaws of life to get the
victims out.
Trooper C. Kasey
with the North Carolina Highway Patrol said the
accident remains under investigation as of
Wednesday.
The two children
are still in critical condition.
Lincoln County's
chaplainry services was activated to assist
family members, firefighters and emergency
workers in dealing with the tragedy.
There will be a prayer vigil tonight at Coral
Park Baptist Church at 7 P.M. on Springs East
Road for Chastity and the children.
